Help Wanted

We need your help to keep our community safe and aid our neighbors in times of need. Please consider volunteering for our fire and rescue squad.

We have many roles, from firefighters and emergency medical technicians, to drivers and support personnel, to community volunteers for events such as our annual auction.

Volunteer as much or as little as you can. Even a small commitment is of big help!

Stop by our work meetings at Orr's Island Fire Station at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month, call our chief, Ben Wallace, at 207-844-8105, or click here for more info.

The Orr's & Bailey Islands Fire Department provides fire and rescue services to Orr's, Bailey and parts of Great Island in Harpswell, Maine.

We are a nonprofit, volunteer organization dependent on citizen participation and community support.

Volunteers serve as firefighters, emergency medical technicians, drivers, support personnel, members of our board of directors and in many other roles. There are opportunities for everyone.

Our fund-raising efforts center on an annual August yard sale and auction, direct appeals to residents and occasional special programs. All money raised goes toward equipment, training and maintaining the fire and rescue service.

As our slogan says, we truly are "neighbors helping neighbors."
